The project
The cross-cohort research programme (CCRP) is a programme of research to investigate lifecourse and intergenerational patterns of health, wealth and wellbeing. It will be based on analysis of the UK’s reknowned cohort studies housed at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS) and is funded by the ESRC for three years (July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2018).
The intergenerational transmission of advantage and disadvantage is central to many policy concerns both in the UK and internationally. The overarching programme has 7 sub-projects. They cover the following areas:
- Intergenerational influences on physical activity (Project Lead: George Ploubidis)
- Parental working hours and the prevalence of obesity (Project Lead: Emla Fitzsimons)
- Childhood mental health trajectories (Project Lead: Alissa Goodman)
- Alcohol use across the life course and its links with health and wellbeing (Project Lead: Jennifer Maggs)
- Parent’s wealth in childhood and its relationship with children’s development (Project lead: Ludovica Gambaro)
- Social mobility mechanisms and consequences (Project lead: Alice Sullivan)
- Education and occupational aspirations (Project lead: Lucinda Platt, LSE)
Funding
The CCRP is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council for the period July 1, 2015-June 30, 2018.
The data
Analysis will be based on the four cohorts studies based at CLS
